Ivaylo was born from an aristocrat family of Fountaine, his father was a renowed antiquary/evaluator well known across Teyvat for his critical essays.
Ivaylo showed interest and talent for his family’s trade from an early age, receiving a vision in his teens. That was when he started to feel the weight of the path his name had imposed on him, yet he strived to find a way not to let go of his passion.
Pressured by his father to pursue an academic career, he was sent to Sumeru to receive the best education possible. His years there where the most miserable of his life, struggling to meet his father expectations, his scripts facing harsh criticism and being ostracized by the other scholars, ‘drunk-with-erudition’. His only friend there was Al Haitham, who often watched over the clumsy scholar. He also started a written correspondence with Lisa, since he had intended to use one of her thesis as reference for his own. After he confided in her about his unhappiness and anxiety, the mage recommended him to move to Mondstadt for a fresh start.
After returning to Fountaine his father tried to stop him but Ivaylo confronted him in court for his abuse thanks to none other than Focalor themselves, since then, the former scholar will always hold in high regard the archon, even if he would never share their absolutist view on justice.
He left the Academy and became an adventurer to sustain himself as he started writing children books about Teyvat’s landmarks and legends. He is very fascinated by mechanisms and clocks, often getting distracted by them during missions.
